….Deal courageously, and the Lord shall be with the good.
2 Chron. 19:11
This is Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, addressing the judges he had set over the different units of Judah. Everything that was needed for effectual and easy administration had been provided, but the judges needed courage to succeed in executing their duties.
It indeed takes courage to occupy a leadership position. The know-how may be superb, the personnel to assist may be readily available and may even be of high quality, but the absence of courage will spell failure.
Courage is required for effective leadership, particularly when you have men who appear intimidating around you, men whose mere presence may paralyze your morale and leave you bereft of speech.
“Deal courageously, and the Lord shall be with the good.” Courage compels God into action. He moves with the courageous and fights for them. Until you take the steps of courage, strength of God does not come down for you. Leave off courage, and what you have is a weak and feeble heart. The scripture says:
Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.
Psalm 27:14
Friend you are not for a wild goose chase. If God says “Be of good courage”, it means it is available and you can have it. You cannot take what is not available. Everything God tells you to go for, you can be sure that He has made provision for it already. Therefore, you must not think it is an impossible task to possess courage; it is not.
Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord.
Psalm 31:24
